Stalls training went well

"Don't worry about falling in love because in fairy tales, they don't find each other until the last page."

It’s a bright, cold morning once again with a light covering of snow. We have not had very much of the white stuff, but looking at the forecast it is going to stay cold for at least the next few weeks and usually when snow hangs about it is waiting for some more. All the riders are in today, but we are still two short on the yard, which I am now told is due to illness. We have been getting on very well with all the horses cantering, plus we put three fillies through the stalls at second lot. All has gone well. Tomorrow’s runner will be leaving towards the end of the morning as she has a long journey to Newcastle, so all in all a busy time.

Garrison Law

I see Chelmsford has switched from At The Races to Racing UK and the picture rights battle continues apace. I wonder what will happen when there are eight meetings in the day and horses get loose, take time entering the stalls or any other numerous things that can happen to delay race times. The fixture list is complete madness and I am sure it will cause chaos once everybody knows what is being shown on which channel. It is sure to put punters off, not attract them. As usual the brains of the people in charge have not been in gear.

Diverting and her Nathaniel filly foal

I have three things I would like to mention today. Firstly, we had our second foal of the season last night when Diverting gave birth to a lovely filly by Nathaniel. She had been restless early evening and then decided to have her just before 10 o’clock last night. All went well and I am pleased to say mother and daughter are very happy.

Secondly, I would like say that we have only just found, hidden under a pile of leaves by our main gate, a Christmas present of a hamper of goodies. It had obviously been thrown over the gate by the delivery person when nobody was in. It looked a really good hamper and I thank whoever sent it to us as there was nothing left to identify it. I am sure this has happened to a lot of us and is typical of our online deliveries in that patience and care doesn’t come into their vocabulary.

Thirdly, I would just like to point out the flags at the top of our website do translate the whole site into whichever language you want. It is a great tool and we are very appreciative of whoever invented it. I know there are so many people around the world who use it.
