Onwards and upwards ...

Perfect weather for the horses

Wednesday, 14 November 2018

"One of the secrets of life is to make stepping stones out of stumbling blocks."

Jack Penn.

The yearlings are now on Hamilton Hill

A very similar morning to yesterday with bright sunshine, no rain and no wind. It looks as if it will stay this way for at least the rest of the week. We have had a great morning once again with the horses having a good exercise in this lovely weather which is perfect for them all. After their injections a warm dry week is ideal.

Cantering in a group

A power cut at Chelmsford last night meant that racing had to be abandoned after the third race and I just wondered why there were no back up generators in place. Now that we have three, and about to be four, flood lit tracks I hope the BHA can recommend, or whatever they do, that the said courses have alternative plans if needed. Last night's problem was once again costly for all involved.

Going so well

I see Towcester racecourse could soon be in action again although we shall not know it's actual fate until the new year. The administrators announced yesterday that they had sold the assets to a company linked to the original course chairman, Lord Hesketh. It will be fascinating to see what emerges in the spring.
