We have one runner today at Fakenham

Second lot out and cantering

It’s still blowing and there are rain showers around, but not quite as bad as yesterday. Unfortunately the forecasters tell us it is going to continue throughout the weekend but at least next week looks a bit better. We have had a busy morning in the yard with a runner going off pretty early and with all the riders in, we have been getting on well. I have been keeping to the all-weather surfaces for the majority of the horses and all has gone smoothly. I am starting to step up to faster work as we will have the turf flat season upon us very soon and I would like to crack on early if possible. For the first time in a long time it looks like we have some early two-year-olds and it will be interesting to see how they perform in the first month.

Walking back after exercise

We have one runner today with Velvet Voice in the first at Fakenham. She has had absolutely no luck so far, being bogged down on her first outing and her reins snapping two weeks ago back at this venue. I hope she can get a clear round this time and it will be interesting to see what she can produce. A big strong mare, she has had a few problems along the way but is capable of winning a race if things fall right.

Third lot yesterday on the grass

What a Cheltenham yesterday with some great stories and some great rides and finishes. It is what Cheltenham should be about, what should encourage owners to become involved and for young people to come into this sport of ours. If you work hard and have talent, you can get on as a jockey and if you are enthusiastic and take the rough with the smooth and have luck on your side, there is no better feeling in the world than having a winner in any race. Our sport is without equal for the excitement it gives.

I am still holding on to a slender lead in the tipping competition but it could all change quickly today. At least we have given you plenty of winners and placed horses during the week and I hope everybody has enjoyed it. Our selections and standings are below.

1.30  Sir Erec    2.10  Crooks Peak    2.50  Allaho    3.30  Presenting Percy    4.10  Stand Up And Fight    4.50  Whatswrongwithyou    5.10  Dallas des Pictons

Working well

We have a great selection of horses for sale, either outright, in shares or syndication. I am really excited about this year’s intake of two-year-olds as they are a cracking lot full of size, scope and potential. Anybody who wants to get involved for the flat season should come and have a visit to Frankland Lodge as you couldn’t fail to be impressed. Have a look at our selections on this website in horses for sale, lease or syndication and give us a call to come and see them whenever you like. It is always open house at Frankland Lodge and we would love to give you the experience of ownership.

Happy Birthday Rebecca

A big happy birthday to Rebecca Marriott for tomorrow, which I know she have been looking forward to for a couple of months now. Rebecca loves the horses and is a great tipster, always taking money off her father. Everybody at Frankland Lodge and Dullingham Park hope you have a marvellous day.
