It’s a very similar day to yesterday but it could be the last one as rain is forecast towards the end of the week. It then looks like being wet for at least a few days.  We have had a busy morning with both horseboxes going off to Yarmouth where we have three runners. The horses have been getting out and cantering mainly using Southfields Round and Hamilton Hill. All has gone well and it is such a nice morning they should pay me to ride out.

We have three runners today at Yarmouth. We start with Pageant Master in the 2 o’clock, the six furlong handicap where I have dropped him back in trip. I was pleased with his run at Newcastle last month when he got a bit tired. We have also added the tongue strap today and I think he will be reasonably competitive. Our next is Velvet Vision in the mile and a quarter at 3.10. She has run two sound races and I am sure it will be very similar today. I have always thought she will get a bit further in time and we will be doing that in the near future. Our last runner is Ness Of Brodgar. She was disappointing last time but has had a little wind operation since and we are also tying her tongue down for the first time. I have always liked this filly and I just hope she can begin to show us what she shows at home. She will improve a lot for today’s run though as she has been off for over 160 days.

Eddie the hack turned out in the paddock

The old saying that nothing lasts forever has come true with the Gigginstown operation. They announced yesterday they were winding down and not going to buy any more horses, although they still have a huge amount on the ground that will be running over the next few years. They have had an unbelievably run winning nearly everything that you could do in the game and I am sure Mr O’Leary will not be lost entirely to our sport.
