Onwards and upwards ...

A very close, muggy sort of morning

Four Miracles, at the top of Long Hill with views as far as Ely Cathedral, lost in the early morning mist.

Omokoroa, having a shake, in between picks of grass.

A very close, muggy sort of morning and horseboxes have been going off in all directions since first light. What with staff on holiday and staff off sick, it is all hands to the pump this morning. I was even thinking of getting Phil, Ian and Neil to ride out one lot but after thinking about it the two Arsenal supporters might not have the bottle for it!

Ted Spread, looking very relaxed, in the early morning sun.

Five runners today: Astrolibra at Wetherby, Red Barcelona and Akula at Salisbury and Brushing and Kathleen Francis at Sandown. Astrolibra must have a sound chance at Wetherby, she has run and jumped well both times over hurdles and I cannot see why there should be any difference today.

At Salisbury, Red Barcelona should have an each-way chance in the 7.40 pm, he ran well last time and should be competitive tonight. Akula runs in the 8.45 pm, he ran very well first time out last year and I am hoping that he can improve to be a nice staying three year old but this looks a tricky contest.

Kinsya - still loving the job!

Tonight at Sandown, Kathleen Francis runs in the 8.00 pm, I have always thought that she would develop along similar lines to her mother, who won four races but a bit easier ground and maybe further in time would help. Brushing is our last runner at 8.45 pm, she has run two sound races to date but this is a step up in class; nevertheless, she still has an each-way chance.

Only seven furlongs to go!
